Greiner Bio-One has developed ComboPlate™, a universal 24 well protein crystallisation microplate for hanging and sitting drop vapour diffusion within a standardised footprint. Virgin, high-clarity polystyrene combined with a distortion-free bottom provides excellent optical properties for microscopic inspection of crystal growth.
Flat, raised rings around each well minimise spills and cross-contamination. 18 mm glass or plastic coverslips or VIEWseal™, a clear sealing tape, can be used to separately seal each reservoir. A slightly raised protection lid prevents scratches and shifting of the seal during stacking or transportation.
CrystalBridge™ inserts, necessary for sitting drop crystallisation, fit neatly into the wells of ComboPlate™. Each CrystalBridge™ features a round bottom indentation to accommodate 45 μl of sample. A CrystalBridge™ can easily be transferred to another well during or after the crystallisation experiment.
